Many artists use the human face and figure as a means of expression. Working with observation and imagination, faces and figures will be the focus! Students will create self-portrait masks learning about proportion, patterns and color. 3D concepts will be explored through bent wire portrait sculpture. The class will learn about artists such as Chuck Close, Modigliani, Picasso, Matisse to make figure puzzle cubes. Students will cultivate life drawing skills in charcoal and transform drawings into laser transfers and monotypes.
