OAK PARK ART LEAGUE REGISTRATION POLICIES
 
Registration
  • Registration is on a first come first served basis.
  • Enrollment is accepted in person or phone during gallery hours, or online 24/7.
  • Early registration is recommended. Late registration begins one week before the start date of a class, camp or workshop. A $20 per class late fee will apply.
  • Date of registration closure is at the discretion of the Executive Director in consult with the art instructor and will be indicated on the registration page for each class.
  • Any special fees, such as model fees or material fees, are indicated on the registration page for each class and are to be paid to the instructor directly on the first day of class.
  • Payment in full is due at time of registration. OPAL school accepts cash, check and credit card (Visa, MasterCard & American Express) payment options.
  • Class registration will be confirmed once payment is received.
Cancellation & Refunds
  • If the office is notified at least three days prior to the start of the first class, tuition is refundable for all classes, camps and workshops, minus a processing fee of $20 for each class dropped. Students who opt to receive credit for a future class session in lieu of a refund will not be charged the processing fee.
Missed Classes & Make-up Dates
  • There are no refunds on classes missed due to student absence. Make-up session(s) for student absence may or may not be offered at the discretion of individual instructor(s).
  • Students will be offered a make-up class if instructor is absent. Scheduled time for the make-up session(s) is at the discretion of the instructor.
  • Children’s classes follow the District 97 school closure policies for weather emergencies.
Low Enrollment                        
  • Classes are cancelled when enrollment minimums are not reached. OPAL instructors determine this minimum enrollment number. These cancellations may be made - up to three days prior to the first day of the class. Students will be notified of the cancellation by email or by telephone.  Full tuition will be refunded in the form of credit or by mailed check within two weeks of cancellation notification.

Photography

  • Representatives from OPAL may take photos of participants and/or their artwork during class sessions. These images are for OPAL use only and may be used in publications and/or our   website. Please notify us if you would not like photos to be taken of you or your child.
 Lost & Found
  • OPAL is not responsible for personal property lost or forgotten in the studio or gallery. 
 
Code of Conduct Policy

In order to provide students, members, visitors and staff with an appropriate program environment, the Oak Park Art League (OPAL) has adopted the following Code of Conduct:

 

OPAL will not tolerate any conduct or behavior that is disruptive of its educational or other programs. Students shall not engage in any conduct or behavior that: (1) threatens the safety or comfort of any student, member, visitor or staff; (2) is a danger to themselves or any student, member, visitor or staff; or (3) interferes with OPAL’s ability to conduct classes, workshops, studio sessions, special events, exhibitions or other OPAL programs. OPAL has the sole right to determine whether conduct or behavior is in violation of its Code of Conduct.

 

Some examples of unacceptable behavior are, without limitation:

  • Being present on the premises or in class under the influence of drugs or alcohol or other abused substances
  • Sexual harassment, inappropriate touching, verbal abuse, physical violence or threat of physical violence.
  • Discriminatory behavior or comments offensive to any student's, member's, visitor's or staff’s race, religion, ethnicity, gender or culture.
  • Disruptive behavior in class which undermines the instructor’s authority, or which interferes with other students’ or models’ ability to participate effectively and without offense.
  • Damaging or destroying the property of OPAL, other students, staff, members or visitors.

Violation of the above may result in sanctions including suspension or expulsion from OPAL programs and/or premises; forfeiture of tuition, fees, etc.; financial responsibility for any damage caused; and, in the case of a minor, parental notification and/or being sent home at the parent’s expense.
