Inventing Landscapes with Alcohol Inks - Jan. 24th

Inventing Landscapes
Inventing Landscapes with Alcohol Inks
Friday, January 24th
10-1pm

Chelsea Dubick

In this one day session, students will explore the creative and abstract potential of alcohol inks.  These inks are incredibly vibrant and when used with blending mediums on yupo paper they flow quickly and unpredictably, allowing for compositions with beautiful blooms and gorgeous gradients and color combinations.  We will play between enjoying the spontaneous nature of these paints and making more deliberate choices to direct the composition, palette and depth of field.

Students have the option to bring in landscape photos to use as references, which can be helpful both as a jumping off point and as a touchstone when making decisions about the direction, energy and feel of the piece.

Students may purchase yupo paper in pads or more economical large sheets from Dick Blick, they will also be offered at slightly above cost in class.  The alcohol ink brand that I recommend is Adirondack Ink, as it blends beautifully. Students may purchase their own online for $8/3 bottles from Dick Blick, Scrapbook.com and Walmart or they may use my full range of colors for the duration of the class for $20.
